“It’s Like Being Held In My Mother’s Arms”
Out of the mouths of babes...the above is a direct quote from a high school senior who had been accepted to Princeton University and was addicted to OxyContin. We can now chemically replicate one of life's most secure feelings with a drug called OxyContin. We are in trouble!
Our society has nearly pre-destined our children to use drugs. With only 4% of the world’s population, the United States consumes 60% of the world’s drugs. We see this play out in our teenagers, given, in 13 years their illegal drug use has doubled, and high school students are now describing their schools as “drug infested.” Any medical professional would agree - we are in the middle of a major medical epidemic. And like most epidemics it will not “self-cure” On average, 30,000 young people visit the ER per month with a prescription drug overdose. For the past few years, more young people have died from prescription drug overdose than from heroin, cocaine, and methamphetamine combined.
Unfortunately, most of our common knowledge about drugs—to include alcohol—has little or no ability to protect our kids. All are at huge risk because we don’t even know what we don’t know about drugs today. “Common” drugs such as, marihuana, heroin, and LSD have worse consequences than before. New drugs like “OCs”, “Roxies”, “K2”, “Spice”, and “Salvia” are foreign to those of us who are expected to protect our kids—Could you protect your child/student on your current knowledge of these drugs?
Prescription drug overdose will probably be the leading cause of death by accident this year. Kids that are using have no idea what they are taking and have no room for mistakes. Too much and they will kill you! How many of us realize that the drugs killing our children come from our own medicine cabinets? Recent studies show that parents and relatives are the primary source of drugs for children in the U.S.
Given Bob's unique foundation in law enforcement, coupled with his experience meeting thousands of kids annually in middle schools, high schools and colleges throughout the country, Bob can both articulate what kids say and feel, as well as why they feel that way.
Too often by the time families are receiving the facts about drugs/alcohol they are receiving it as an explanation to a serious incident and even tragedy. The real tragedy is that this is usually preventable. Bob Stutman has a unique ability to digest the writings and research of others, capture their ideas, organizing and enhancing the information with clarity and purpose to assure his audience can understand, relate, and utilize the results.
This program is designed to run approximately 2-4 hours and is geared towards school administrators & faculty, parents & community leaders.
